Michael “Mike” Roger Holton – Stewartville, MN
Michael Roger Holton, 63, of Stewartville, MN passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 2, 2025, with his wife by his side.
Mike was born on June 24, 1961, in Albert Lea, MN. He graduated from Albert Lea Senior High School in 1979. On March 27, 1982, he married Sara J. Mealy at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. The couple lived in Albert Lea until 1984 when they moved to Edwards, Colorado and returned to Minnesota in 1995.
Mike was a builder and fixer of anything. You tell him it could not be done, and he did it. He spent countless hours and miles on a bicycle, but his true passion was raising and showing Portuguese Tumbler Pigeons and did so successfully winning multiple awards over the years. He enjoyed meeting people from all over the country with the same passion. While in Colorado his days were spent hiking, 4-wheeling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Minnesota living was camping, UTV trips, traveling and motocross races. He loved music and a day never passing without him saying “here listen to this song.” He always had a dog as a constant companion by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Sara Holton of Stewartville, MN. His beloved dog Joey. In-Laws Jim and Arlene Mealy of Rochester, Sisters-In-Law Karla Mealy of Kernersville, NC; Barb (Reid) Westrum of Rochester, MN; Sister Jean (Don) Large of Rushville, IL; six nieces and nephews and a great niece and nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and JoAnn Holton.
We will remember Mike with love and fondness at a private family memorial that will to be held at Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester, MN.

Condolences
The family of Michael R. “Mike” Holton has received the following condolences.
Mike was one of the nicest people I know. We spent time together in the pigeon hobby. It was our love of the Portuguese Tumbler Pigeon that brought us together at many shows across the country. That common bond made us friends. Rest in Peace my friend.
HI will be missed and all the great times we had will be remember by my family and I for ever>
Mike was the sweetest man with the biggest heart. I remember fondly when Mike and Sara came to Alaska to visit us. My daughter Audrey was just a baby. When Mike picked her up she cried, and we thought maybe it was because Mike had a beard and Audrey’s dad didn’t. Mile came back in the room after about 10 minutes and he was clean shaven! He did that just for Audrey! It was such a beautiful thing 💕 You will be missed.
As always, you are in our thoughts Sara. We are so glad we had some wonderful adventures with Mike and yourself over the years that fuel some great memories. (Skiing/sledding behind a pickup on Christmas, the Steamboat jeep adventure, the Glenwood Springs wind storm, and of course the wild ride in Hawaii in the rain are just a few that come to mind. 😉). We are always here for you whenever needed. Hugs 🫂
