Michael “Mike” D. Gunderson
Mike Gunderson, age 74, passed away on Friday, April 19th, 2024, at Rochester West Health Services surrounded by family.
He was born December 12, 1949, to Clarence and Beverly (Postier) Gunderson in Rochester, MN. He attended St. John’s grade school, Lourdes High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College and Master of Arts Degree and a Master of Organization & Management from St. Mary’s College MN.
Mike worked for U S West Phone Company for 10 years, moving on to Kemps in 1997 in Business services, and in 2012 as a Pricing Coordinator, retiring in 2018.
Mike enjoyed golfing, gardening, playing pool and cards and spending time at Treasure Island. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Mike is survived by his brother, James Gunderson (Tracy), sisters Gail Aarsvold (Ron Ingersoll) and Diane Hodenfield.
Mike was preceded in death by his brother-in-law James Hodenfield and nephew Jarrod Rabehl.
The family would like to thank Season’s Hospice and Rochester West for Mike’s care.
The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday in the River Park Chapel. A private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester at a later date.

I will miss Mike’s great smile and enthusiasm for life! He was a good friend and helped me get through my Finance class when we were in school together at Concordia and St. Mary’s. We have remained friends since 1986! Mike has a good heart and will be missed very much! My heart is broken knowing that we will not have our annual birthday lunches. I will miss his friendly calls to schedule those lunches and our wonderful visits catching up on our families. Rest in peace my dear friend!
