Michael Winkels, age 42, of Rochester, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at St. Marys Hospital.

Mike was born February 15, 1977 in Rochester, to Raymond and Sharon (Maguire) Winkels. He attended St. Francis Grade School and Mayo High School. Mike earned his GED and Certificate of Mechanical Engineering. He was employed by St. Marys Hospital, Hormel, and held various other jobs throughout his life.

Mike cared deeply for family, friends, and animals. He loved anything mechanical, and always enjoyed family gatherings

Mike is survived by his mother, Sharon Winkels (Willie Jones), and father, Ray (Sheri) Winkels of Rochester; siblings: Teresa Buchan Winkels of Winona, Patrick Winkels of Rochester, Leann (John) Herrley of North Mankato, Julie (Mike) Gatas of New York, Jon Jones (Angie Jacobson) of Rochester, Matt (Victoria) Winkels of Iowa; special nieces and nephews: Andrew, Rory, Emily, Ben, Ella, Piper, William, Angelina, Caleb, Noah, and Annalise, and many others; several aunts and uncles.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and Uncle Andy.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the family.
