Michael C. Ramsdell

Michael Clayton Ramsdell, 78, of Rochester, MN, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.

Michael was born on December 18, 1946, in Chicago, IL, to Rochelle (Berenzweig) Ramsdell and Norbert E. Ramsdell. He attended Von Steuben High School and later earned his degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle College of Pharmacy. Following graduation, he worked as a hospital pharmacist at Passavent and Methodist Hospitals in Chicago.

On February 2, 1975, Michael married Nancy Josephine Breckle in Chicago. Together, they moved to Sibley, Iowa, where they raised their family and opened a pharmacy attached to the Breckle family grocery store. The Park Store and Park Pharmacy became an important part of the Sibley community, where Michael and Nancy worked side by side for more than 30 years. In 2011, Michael and Nancy retired and moved to Rochester, MN to be closer to their daughters.

Michael was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father. He was known for his kindness, compassion, and quick wit. He found joy in listening to music, watching classic films, studying architecture, playing word games, and, most of all, spending time with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy; their children Ann Ramsdell and Susan Ramsdell of Rochester, MN, David Ramsdell of Fargo, ND, brother Stephen (Karlene) Ramsdell of Illinois, sister in-law Marlys Breckle (William Klein) of Florida, brother in-law Ralph (Estela) Breckle of North Carolina and two cherished “grand puppies,” Hazel and Ginger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Rochelle Ramsdell, along with many other beloved family members who forever remain in the hearts of those who knew them.
