Mary Margaret (Dee) Maxon

Mary Margaret (Dee) Maxon, 80, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.

A Recitation of the Rosary and Christian Wake Service will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in Macken Funeral Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic church in Rochester, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will include Donald Dale Kuisle of Byron; Ken Lubahn of Oronoco; Mike Timm and Todd Dee of Rochester; and Erling Pike Jr. of Anoka, Minn. Leroy Kahler of Kasson and Troy Dee of Rochester will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mary Margaret (Dee) Maxon, the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Dee was born in Rochester on Nov. 25, 1929. Mary graduated from Lourdes High School and completed the medical secretary program at Rochester Junior College. She was employed at Mayo Clinic at the time she met her future husband, Lloyd Maxon of Pine Island. They were married at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester on Aug. 27, 1949. Mary and Lloyd moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., in 1950, and to Wichita Falls in 1958.

Mary retired from Best Products Co., where she had worked for 14 years as a jewelry sales associate. She was an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace parish for over 50 years, and a member of the Texas A&M Mother’s Club. Mary was particularly proud of her Irish Catholic heritage and her garden roses and tomatoes. She was an avid fan of the Texas A&M Aggies, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, the Dallas Cowboys, and Villanova teams.

Mary is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Lloyd Maxon of Wichita Falls; daughter, Donna Maxon of Wichita Falls; son, James Maxon (Marilee) of New Braunfels, Texas; and five grandchildren, Rachael, Amanda, Joshua, Jennifer and Anna, of New Braunfels. She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Kuisle (Ralph) of Byron; and brothers, Stanley Dee Jr. (Millie) and Raymond Dee (Shirley Ann) of Rochester. Other survivors include cousins, Betty Fitzpatrick of Milwaukee, Wis., Katherine Garfield of Endwell, N.Y., Ann Dee, the Reverend Don Connelly and Marian Heinz of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Arlene Pike and Patricia Maxon of Austin, Minn., and Loretta Maxon of Justice, Ill.; and more than 20 nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; aunts, Claire, Nora (Joyce), Eva (Wilson) and Ethel (Dee); uncle David; niece Jane (Friede); cousin Frances (Schuler); sister-in-law Bertha (Timm); and brothers-in-law, Harold, Milton, Verne, Roy and Floyd Maxon.
