Mary Imogene Paulios Zotalis

Mary Imogene Paulios Zotalis, age 88, died at Samaritan Bethany Heights, Rochester on November 10, 2010.  Born in Rochester, June 29, 1922 to Effie and Theodore Paulios, she attended school in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1940.  Mary served as a Red Cross Volunteer in Rochester during WWII and worked in Rochester as a telephone operator, clerk and dental assistant.  On October 23, 1949 she married Cleanthes (Cly) Zotalis and they made Mankato their home until 1980.  Mary and Cly raised their family in Mankato, role-modeling generosity in giving to their church and community.  Mary was known for her Greek hospitality and culinary skills which she received from her father and passed down to her children and grandchildren.  She is also remembered for her deep passionate love of her family.

She was preceded in death by Cly (1998).  She is survived by her son James (Paula) of Faribault and daughter Cynthia Mary (Loren) of Helena, MT and her grandchildren (and great grandchildren): Anna (Chuck) Aherns of Tacoma, WA (Tyler & Carter); Peter (Jamie) Zotalis of Welch (Camryn, Alexis Mary & Bailey); Rachel Mary(Josh) Stavnes of Denver; Sigrid Mary (Olle) Pettersson of Stockholm, Sweden (Solbrit); Nicola (Jason) Viana of Burnsville; Julia Gustafson of Helena. Brother J.M (Mike) Paulios and nephew Howard (Alice) Riess all of Rochester and their families.

Funeral service will be at 2 pm, Sunday, November 21 at Calvary Episcopal Church, Rochester with burial on Monday, November 22 at 10 am at Glenwood Cemetery, Mankato.   Friends may call one half hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
