The Funeral Mass for Mary Duryea will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, April 2, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial be at Calvary Cemetery.
Mary C. Duryea, 101 of Rochester, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Samaritan Bethany Nursing Care Center.
Mary was born on March 1, 1915 in Rochester to Nicholas and Julia Nigon. She was raised on the family farm and graduated in 1932 from St. John’s Catholic School in Rochester. She worked for the county school system for 10 years. On October 8, 1943, she married Virgil Duryea at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester. Mary was a homemaker and worked on the family farm for the rest of her life.
She is survived by two children; Charles Duryea and Kathy Duryea both of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband and 4 siblings; Charles, Joseph, Kathleen and John.
Mary enjoyed gardening, canning and was an active member of the St. Francis Rosary Group.
