Mary C. “Keda” Arnold
Keda Arnold, 90, of Rochester, MN, passed peacefully on Friday, October 19, 2018 at her residence at Samaritan Bethany’s Arbor Terrace. She was born August 7, 1928, at St. Marys Hospital to Albert J. and Alita (Woods) Tingley.
Keda graduated from Rochester High School in 1946 and attended Rochester Junior College where she earned her Associate’s Degree. Her father, Albert, owned the Dairy Queen on 12th Street SE and was active on Rochester’s city council in the 1950s and 1960s.
Mary worked in the City of Rochester’s building inspections office from 1948 to 1951. She started work at Mayo Clinic in the Peptide Lab in 1974 and retired in 1994.
She married Richard W. Ferber on August 11, 1951 and followed his U.S. Navy training and career to Illinois, Texas and Florida. Richard passed away in 1988. Divorced in 1973, Keda remarried to Robert K. Arnold in November of 1973. They resided in various areas of Rochester until his passing in 2008. Keda next lived in Central Towers until 2017 when she moved to Arbor Terrace.
Keda and Richard had four children, Carla Kenney, Kay (Rick) Sherwood, David Ferber and Patti Winters (John) Hunnicutt; and one stepson, Todd (Diane) Arnold. She is also survived by Carla of Rochester, David of Denton, TX, and Patti of Gainesville, TX; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Kay, who passed away in 2014, and stepson, Jeff Arnold.
The funeral Mass for Keda Arnold will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at The Church of St. Francis of Assisi, (1114 3rd Street SE, Rochester, MN, 55904) with the Rev. James J. Seitz officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23rd in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home (1105 12th St SE, Rochester, MN 55904) and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens on Marion Road SE, Rochester.
