Mark Roy Schlief
Mark Roy Schlief, age 61 of Elgin passed away on January 4, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a battle with cancer.
Mark was born on May 2, 1954 in Rochester to Barbara L. (Boardman) and Roy Eugene Schlief. He attended Mayo High School. Mark worked for Road Constructors for over 25 years, and later for Bob Braaten Construction. He married Dawn Allen on July 21, 1970. Together, they had two daughters. Mark enjoyed anything with an engine, including his motorcycle and his Corvette. He was an avid gun collector, hunter, fisherman, and family man.
He is survived by his wife Dawn of Elgin, his daughters: Stacey (Kenneth) Parkinson of Millville and Shasta (Andrew) Hassig of Elgin, two sisters: Debbie Rabehl of West Concord and Laurie Benjamin of Hillsboro, OR., two brothers: David Schlief of Hammond and Bob Schlief of Rochester, a step-brother Mike (Lisa) Stock of Chatfield, a step-sister Tricia Richmond of Blaine, MN, his step-mother Jane Schlief of Utah, and six grandchildren: Barbara, Cody, Dylan, McKenna, Hunter and Isabelle.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A Memorial Service for Mark will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 8, 2016 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday January 7, 2016 in the River Park Chapel along with one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to the family.
