Mark H. Mathis

The Funeral for Mark H. Mathis will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Mathis, 60, of Rochester, MN, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his residence following a battle with cancer. Mark Henry Mathis was born April 17, 1956 in Albert Lea, MN to Melvin and Gladyce Mathis.

He graduated from Albert Lea Central High School in 1974. He then attended Rochester Community College where he received his Associate’s degree in business. He started his own mechanic auto-import repair business, The Automen Inc., which he owned and operated for 29 years. He married Lori C. Farnsworth on August 30, 1986 and lived in Rochester, MN for the remainder of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Lori; his two daughters, Nicolle (Lane) Folkers of Billings, MT, and Kaitlynn Mathis of Rochester, MN; a son, Alexander of Rochester, MN; and two sisters, Sherrie (Quentin) Denzene of Andover, MN and Michele (Tom) Hill and of Moulton, AL.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Gladyce, his father, Melvin, and a step-mother, Frances.

Mark had a passion for learning and trying new things. He went back to college at the age of 55 and started to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in business. In his life, he enjoyed camping, hunting, and skiing. He was also a huge fan of the Minnesota Vikings.

My deepest condolences to Marks family. The time we shared together as our boys grew on the ice  with youth hockey and Mark's unselfishness to help coach them is an act that will never be forgotten, and his smile will be forever with the boys.
