Marjorie P. Iverson

Marjorie Iverson of Rochester MN, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2016.

Marjorie Pearl Iverson was born on July 30, 1934 in Elgin, MN to Harold and Helen (Harvey) Sonnenberg.   Her family moved to Rochester in 1944 where she graduated from Rochester Senior High in 1953.  Marge worked as a Nurse Aid at the Worrall Hospital from 1953 to 1958.

She married Wayne Iverson on February 22, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Rochester, MN and moved to rural Lanesboro, MN to live and work on the farm.  She grew to love working with the animals, raising her three children and keeping Wayne in line! Marge was very active in North Prairie Lutheran Church participating in various activities supporting the community.  In 1984, Wayne and Marge left the farm and moved into semi-retirement in Rochester.

Marge officially retired in 2005 but she kept busy with crafts, working in her flower garden and learning how to use a computer! She enjoyed visiting her daughter’s farm often. Marge also enjoyed shopping at the local Farmers Market for inspiration and to remind herself of the “old days”.  The highlight of every summer for Marge was the Olmsted County Fair where she and Wayne would watch their granddaughters show various animals through the 4-H program.

In 2014, Marge entered Golden Living Center West due to a chronic infection.  When Wayne died, this became her final home.  She grew much attached to the staff at Golden Living where they made her final 2 years enjoyable.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents and nephews Tim Sonnenberg and Steve Decker, brother in law, Lynn Iverson and sister in law, Alice Iverson.

She is survived by children, Lori (Mike) Jergenson of Chatfield, David Iverson of Rochester, and Thomas (Karla) Iverson of Minnetrista.  Grandchildren Heather and Stefanie Jergenson and Seth Iverson and Great Grandchildren Dillon Jergenson and Abigail Westergaard, Sister Janice (Dale) Decker, Brother Richard (Irene) Sonnenberg and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center West and Mayo Clinic Hospice for the excellent care given to our mother.  You have a special place in our hearts.

I want to send a condolence

We knew Marge for many years when we all lived in Olympik Village Apartments.  Marge and Wayne were friends and there were no better meighbors.

Marge baby sat our guinea pig when we were away on  vacations.  He loved his Aunt Marge!

So sad to hear of your loss.  Our prayers are with all of you.  I have such fond memories of your mom...always smiling, spunky, and I just always remember being in AWE of how strong she was, for being so petite, and in AWE of how much she knew how to do around the farm!  She will certainly be missed here, but welcomed in heaven!

Love,

Sonja Kaiser (Benston)

Lori, David, Tom & Grand Children ...

Learning of the loss of your Mother Marge is heart breaking ... especially after the loss of your Father Wayne.  They were both incredibly hard working, loyal and compassionate people, always with a smile at the ready and never a harsh word to utter about anyone.  We were so very fortunate to have your folks as part of our management team and we could have never achieved the success we did without them ... their hard work and "down home" Peterson ethics were evident each and every day.  God Bless the both of them ... they were two incredible folks.  RIP Marge, and you as well Wayne.
