Marjorie M. Willis

Marjorie M. Willis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed
into God’s loving embrace Saturday, October 30, 2010, at Seasons Hospice
in Rochester.

She was 89, born March 8, 1921 in Stoutsville, Missouri to Lemuel and
Grace Searcy.  On September 15, 1951 she married R. Galen Willis in
Hannibal, Missouri.
Marjorie’s former places of residence include:  Paris, MO from 1921 to
1940; Hannibal, MO from 1940 to 1951; Keokuk, IA from 1951 to 1952;
Mason City, IA from 1952 to 1954; Waterloo, IA from 1954 to 1996; and
Rochester, MN from 1996 to present.

Marjorie graduated from Christian College at Columbia, MO in 1940 with a
music degree.

She worked 23 years as a Reliability Analyst for John Deere and retired
in 1982.

Survivors include one son, Rodney Willis of Ramsey, MN, and one
daughter, Melody (Doug) Hudson of Rochester, MN.  She is also survived
by two grandchildren: Jennifer (Justin) Langstraat and Dan Hudson.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband who passed away on
September 4, 1992, as well as one brother, Lemuel Searcy, and one
sister, Pauline (Reavis) Capps.

Marjorie was active in the Homebuilders Sunday School Class at Central
Christian Church in Waterloo, IA.  She was an avid bridge player and a
wonderful cook.  She sang in the church choir and loved to play piano
and organ.  Marjorie also enjoyed fishing, camping, sewing, knitting,
and watching the Minnesota Twins.  She will best be remembered for her
warmth and hospitality, and beautiful blue eyes.

The funeral service for Marjorie M. Willis will be at 11:00 a.m.
Wednesday November 3 at the Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester
with the Rev. Jeff Utecht officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary
Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, November 2 at Macken Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the
service at the church on Wednesday.
