Marjorie Ann Strauss

The funeral for Marjorie Strauss will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester with the Rev. Mark McNea officiating. Visitation will be from 5PM-7PM Friday in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mrs. Strauss, 92, of Rochester, formerly of Bellechester, died Tuesday June 9th at Madonna Towers.

She was born Sept 27, 1922 in Harvey North Dakota.  She married Vernon Strauss on June 6th, 1944 at St. Mary’s Church in Bellechester, MN.  She was a Wave in the U.S. Navy for 2 1/2 years stationed in Washington D.C.  Following the war, she moved to Rochester where she helped her husband Vernon operate two grocery stores.  She also was a secretary at the Mayo Clinic, retiring in 1986.

She loved cheering on MN sport teams.  She was an avid supporter of Lourdes High School and all things Rochester-she was very proud of the community she lived in.  She was committed to her faith, involved in her church and new the grace of God throughout her life.  Most of all, she loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  It was among them she drew her joy.     She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Mike) Chase of Elkhorn, WI. and Mary (Ron) Hanson of Rochester;  four sons, Steve (Janet) of Rochester, Michael (Deb) of Rochester, Joe (Sue) of Wheaton, IL and Jon (Lori) of Crystal Lake, IL; 14 grandchildren Jennifer, Chris, Kim, Brian, Kevin, David, Sarah, Melissa, Nathan, Nicole, Ben, Danny, Emily and Sarah; 12 great grandchildren Kyia, Lucas, George, Isaac, Katie, Will, Autumn, Kyra, Liam, Henry, Emmett , and Genevieve.

Memorials are suggested to the Vern Strauss Scholarship Fund of the Lourdes High School Foundation.
