Marion Deedrick

The Funeral Service for Marion Deedrick will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 26, 2013 at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Nancy Wheeler Handlon officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with a reading by Rebecca Lodge followed by an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m.  There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Marion’s body will be interred in the mausoleum at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Deedrick, 97, of Rochester, died Tuesday November 19, 2013 at St. Isidore Health Care Center in Plainview, MN.

Marion was born January 13, 1916 in Quincy Township, Olmsted County to Julius and Norma (Holdredge) Bedtka. She graduated from Dover High School in 1933. On July 1, 1937 she married Ralph Deedrick in Milwaukee, WI. They farmed in the Dover area before moving to Rochester in 1959. Mr. Deedrick died October 3, 2001.

Marion worked as a teacher and taught country school before taking a position as a lab technician for Mayo Clinic for 10 years.  Marion was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester where she and her husband were ushers for 40 years.  She was also a member of Rebecca Lodge # 10 and Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughter, Norma Jean (Jerry) Krantz of Rochester, MN.; four grandchildren, Reid (Yehudit) Blankenfeld of Arad Israel, James (Pam) Blankenfeld of Altoona, IA, Sarah Weiss of Rochester, MN., and Eric (Jen) Blankenfeld of Appleton, WI. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and one sister, Mareta Rupprecht of St. Charles, MN.  She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and three brothers, Paul, Donald, and Harold Bedtka.

The family prefers memorials to Christ United Methodist or the American Cancer Society.
