Marie E. Spaulding

A Funeral Mass for Marie E. Spaulding will be 2:00PM Wednesday,  January 5, 2011 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church officiated by the Rev. John Lasuba.  Burial will take place at St. Josephs Cemetery, 12:00PM Noon, in Waite Park, MN on Thursday, January 6, 2011.  Mrs. Spaulding, age 96 died December 27, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital.

Born Marie Elizabeth Speier March 11, 1914 to Joseph and Olga (Hinrichs) Speier at Osakis, MN, she married Milton C. Spaulding December 26, 1933 at Holy Angels Cathedral in St. Cloud, MN.

The couple owned and operated businesses in Clinton, MN and later Paynesville, MN before moving to Rochester in 1959 when they purchased Culligan Water Conditioning. Marie was both co-owner and office manager of the business until the couple retired in 1976. Mr. Spaulding passed away September 29, 2002.

Marie was a member of the Business/Professional Women Organization (BPW), Rochester Senior Citizens Center and was a pink lady volunteer at St. Marys Hospital.  She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and belonged to its Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include one son and two daughters: Robert (Yvonne) Spaulding of Detroit Lakes, MN/Sun City AZ; Sandra (Ken) Randall of Walker, MN and Victoria (Gabriel) Laibinis of Dacula, GA. She is also survived by 9 granddaughters and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by a sister, Vange Carlson of Graceville, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Macken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
