Marie Carolyn Nepper

Marie Carolyn Nepper, 74, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 from heart failure.

Marie was born August 25, 1943 to Cleon and Carolyn (Davidshofer) Frisch. She graduated from Rollingstone Holy Trinity High School, Rollingstone, MN in 1961. In 1964, she married John Nepper. They were later divorced.

An active gardener, her yard and her garden were her passion. She enjoyed sharing it with others at her annual garden party, this year marking her 20th anniversary. Marie’s adventurous spirit took her to many corners of the world, but she was happiest in her garden.

Marie retired from Mayo Clinic in 2005 and was an active blood donor, reaching the 100+ Donor level, donating 150 times.

She is survived by her three daughters, Gina (Mike) Tuohy of Chatfield, Jill (Patrick Sullivan) Nepper of Boulder, CO, and Tracy (Terri) Nepper of Rochester; one grandson, Patrick Henry (Hank) Sullivan; and her squeeze, William “Bill” Hammer.

She is also survived by three sisters, Rita (Bruce) Hartert of Spring Valley, Carol (Norb) Budzinski of Grass Valley, CA, and Toni Ihrke of Golden Valley; and two brothers, Donald (Mary) Frisch of Minnesota City, and Bernard Frisch of Winona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and Richard; and sister, Mary Paula Strugis.

The funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm Thursday, July 19 at Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the Mass at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Altura, MN.

Marie was a wonderful co-worker at Mayo.  She was positive, enthusiastic, and a very hard worker.  Just a joy to be around.  So sorry to hear of her passing, prayers for her family for comfort at this time.

Jill,

We were so sad to hear of your mom’s passing. We were blessed to know her and spend a lovely Easter with her and your family in Sonoma a few years ago. I remember her vitality, energy, and sense of humor. I know she will be missed. May your sweet memories of her comfort you, Pat, Hank, Gina, Tracy, Bill and all those who loved her during this time of sadness.

With love,

Kelly, Paul, Katie and Chelsea

Marie was such a positive, 'can do' person.  She was loved by so many....friends, family, neighbors and more.  For years there was in her kitchen a gumball machine, along with pennies, for the children, including her many nieces and nephews.  She also loved to bake and distributed bags of cookies to many.  The same goes for jars of pickles and hanging baskets of her flowers. Marie hosted 'Neighbors Night Out,' her garden party, and annual family picnic. She was definitely a giver.  She is now an angel in heaven!

Dear all of Marie’s family especially Jill & Tracy,

We are so very sorry for your loss. Your mom was an amazing mom and lady. Sending love and prayers to all of you. So sad I can’t be there. Much love, Kris, Kyr, Isabel & Skye

Tracy,

So very sorry for your loss. Peace to you.

Love , Georgiana

Tracy,

What a dear soul your mom will continue to be in heaven. She brought joy to all those she came in contact with. From the moment she and I first met I felt a close connection. She was such a genuine person with a spunky spirit. I truly feel I am a better person for having known her.

Over the last month she and I had been in email contact and had made plans to have dinner together on July 18th.  I will miss this time as I was so looking forward to letting her know what her friendship has meant to me.

Your Mom was such a beautiful person inside and out. One I feel blessed to call Friend !!!!!

Hugs to you

We are sorry for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during these difficult times.  May the memories of Marie help you find peace.

I wish to send my condolences to the family of Marie Nepper. I was a fellow graduate of Holy Trinity High School [Rollingstone] in 1961. Since then my primary contact with Marie was at our every five year class reunions. At those gatherings Marie always had a smile for everyone and was outgoing, vivacious and fun loving. I am sure she will be sorely missed by her family and friends as well as by my fellow classmates at our next reunion.

Gina, Jill, Tracey and families,

My heart aches for you as you grieve the tremendous loss of your mom. I will be holding all of you close in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days and months as you navigate your grief journey. Be gentle on yourselves and surround yourself with people that love you.

Aunt Marie was always so full of life and vibrant energy from my memories on the farm recalling her super hero ability to wash and dry dishes faster than anything we had ever seen to watching her water ski about 10 years ago at our cabin.  She lived life to the fullest and her cup was always half full.   She was such a good friend to my mom after she was widowed so young as she kept her busy and they had a lot of fun together.  She kept me updated with regular emails on how my mom was doing which was such a comfort to me in those days.   Aunt Marie was kind and genuine and every time I had conversations with her she wanted to hear all about my family and would always share some funny stories about my mom that would warm my heart.

Godspeed Marie.... and love, peace, and healing to my cousins

So very sad to see Marie leave 17th street where I have known her since I was 5 years old.  She was the mother of one of my closest friends growing up and I spent a lot of time in her back yard sandbox and sleepovers and watching cartoons Saturday morning in the basement.  I used to watch her fix Gina's hair in the morning in awe.  In the spring Marie would pop over for a bouquet of lilacs when our bushes were in bloom, oh how she loved their smell and at Halloween when our family still made popcorn balls she would always drop by for hers.  As I grew older, Marie got me my first job at Holiday Inn as a bed maker and subsequent promotions to the dining room after that.  Marie and my mother were both featured in the Rochester Garden Tour a few years back and her love for gardening was clearly evident, people flocked to see her bright pink and white impatiens displayed in her window boxes and all over her yard.  Marie always took good care of my mother, and many other older neighbors as well, watching out for all to make sure everything was okay.  I will so miss her smile, wave and time for a quick chat when I am visiting 17th street.  I'm so thankful for all the fond memories I have of this beautiful, kind and spunky lady.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Tracy. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Marie was a gem, a sweetheart and it was always a joy to see her stop by work for a visit. Thankful for the opportunity to get to know her over the years. She will be missed. Thinking of those who loved her best and are surely missing her terribly.
