Margaret Ann Dandois was born on November 30, 1925 in Green Bay, WI to Orby and Mabel (Robertson) Dandois. She attended East High in Green Bay and graduated from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN with a degree in Library Science. She worked at the University of Minnesota library until she married Eugene E. Wente on August 7, 1948 in Green Bay and they moved to Rochester later that year.
Peg loved being a mother and was the family matriarch. Her greatest joy was seeing the shared love when her children and grandchildren gathered together. She was also the family historian and volunteered for 25 years at the Family History Center while tracing her genealogy back to the 1500’s.
She was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and attended Mass daily throughout her life. She was a thoughtful and generous person who consistently put others needs ahead of hers. Peg was also a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, a voracious reader and loved baking, her flowers, and socializing with a wide array of friends.
She is survived by her 11 children, Stephen (Nancy) of Connecticut, Susan (Ted) Johnson of Rochester, Tim (Lori) of Minnesota, John (Ann) of Colorado, Marianne (Pat) Newell of Colorado, Mike (Vicki) of Wisconsin, Maggie (Bill) McGillicuddy of Illinois, Geno (Sandy) of Rochester, Erich of Wisconsin, Mikki of Colorado, and Patrick (Claudia) of Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; and sisters-in-law Elaine Wente and Maxine Closner.
Peg was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years Gene, her sister Joanne, and brothers-in-law David Grant, Hal Wente, and Dick Closner.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be directed to St. Pius X Catholic Church or to the charity of your choice. Online condolences are welcome at mackenfuneralhome.com.
