Margaret M. Clark

Margaret M. Bates O’Hara Clark, 92, slipped away on March 7th at the Mayo Clinic Care Facility in Lake City where she had been a resident since 2007.

She was born April 21, 1925 to Henry and Ellen Bates in Minneapolis, MN. Margaret graduated from Patrick Henry High School and then worked for Northwestern Bell. She married Douglas O’Hara in 1948, they were later divorced. She married James Clark in 1980.

Survivors include daughters, Susan O’Hara (Colin Sullivan), and Kathy O’Hara (Rick) Smith; stepsons, Kelly and Shawn Clark; sister, Kaye McLennan; grandsons, Jon Bonde, Jason (Sara) Bonde, Michael Bonde, Larry (Amanda) Myers, Anthony Myers, Bryan (Megan) Myers, Catherine (Nick) Strauss Weininger, and Nick (Ingrid) Strauss; great-grandchildren, Faith, Nora and Alexandra Bonde, Aryana and Avaya Myers, Emmalli, Bennell and Molly Myers, Colton, Logan and Payton Myers, Lewis Strauss-Weininger, Nina, George and Arthur Strauss; and nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Strauss; husband, James Clark; brothers, Henry and Jackson Bates; stepson, Richard Clark; and nephews, Tim McLennan and John Bates.

Margaret lived most of her life in Minneapolis but moved to Zimmerman, MN after her marriage. After her retirement from the phone company, she obtained her Real Estate License and pursued that career for several years.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing, bowling, fishing and gardening, and her grandchildren and nieces and nephews. If someone needed her, she was always there to help.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 23rd in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
