Margaret Ann Mulvihill, 88, of Rochester died peacefully after a brief illness at Rochester Rehabilitation and Living Center on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
Margaret Ann Twohey was born at Saint Marys Hospital on July 7, 1929. Margaret was raised on the Twohey family farm south of Rochester. She graduated from Lourdes Catholic High School in 1947. On October 9, 1948 she married David Mulvihill at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Simpson. They raised their five children on acreage that they purchased on the Twohey farm homestead. Margaret was a stay at home mom until she took a job at Rochester Methodist Hospital where she worked in Central Supply until her retirement in 1993 after 23 years. Margaret and David enjoyed years of square dancing, camping, and visiting with their many friends and family. After David’s death in 2014, Margaret resided at River Bend Assisted Living where she enjoyed sitting on her deck overlooking the Zumbro River and weekend outings with her children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by five children, Cathy (Peter) Lehman, Jean Baker (Jeff Seidel), Tom (Kathy) Mulvihill, Carol (Al) Van Dyke, Richard (Debbie) Mulvihill all of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Nicole Lehman, Chad Stromberg, Jill (David) Sherburne, Brandon Baker, Courtney Van Dyke, Ashley Mulvihill, Michael Mulvihill, Matthew (Kirsten) Mulvihill; six great-grandchildren, Avalyn Stromberg, Ella and Olivia Sherburne, Deegan and Kai Baker, Harrison Van Meter); and three brothers, Jerry, Robert (Karen) and Frank (Marilyn) Twohey. She is preceded in death by her husband, David; and her parents, Clarence and Margaret Twohey.
A memorial Mass will be held for Margaret at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Church of the Resurrection, 1600 11th Avenue SE, Rochester, MN with Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Friends may call Thursday, October 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in St. Bridgets Cemetery, Simpson, MN.
