Mae F. Willey
Mae Willey was taken home to be with her Lord on March 10, 2012. Mae died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Maple Manor Nursing Home where she resided for the last three years. Mae was 90 years old.
Mae Fern Brown was born October 23, 1921, in Mantorville, Minnesota. She was the first child of Arnold Brown and Edra Petersen. Mae grew up in the Rochester area and attended Rochester schools.
Mae married Orrin Slawson on August 17, 1939 and together, they had eight children. In later years they divorced. Mae worked at the Kahler Hotel from 1953-1968. She later worked at International Transport where she retired.
Mae enjoyed visits from her family, especially Thursday nights with her beloved brother Maurice and surprise visits from her brother Milo. Before Mae was confined to the nursing home, she enjoyed reading a good book, crocheting afghans for her children and baby blankets for the grandchildren. She also enjoyed her horses, gardening, camping, and fishing.
Mae is survived by her five children, Joyce (Ken) Smith and Duane Slawson, both of Rochester, Gary (Janice) Slawson of Plainview, Carol Mae Schroeder of Rice Lake, Wisconsin and Sandra (Dale) Holt of Barron, Wisconsin; daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Slawson of Rochester; four brothers, Maurice (Dorothy) Brown of Rochester, Milo Brown of Murrieta, California, Roy (Doris) Brown of Kasson and Neil (Marlys) Brown of Mazeppa; one sister, Iona Eubanks of Boca Raton, Florida; 22 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda Lea; two sons, Glenn and Dale; one grandson, David Dean Krom; one great-great granddaughter, Autumn Richards; and one sister, Eunice.
A private graveside service will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens at 1:00PM on Thursday, March 15, 2012. Macken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
