Madelyn Angeline DeRuiter

Madelyn (Holtegaard) DeRuiter, 92, of Rochester, MN died on Thursday, December 14, 2017.

Madelyn was born to Alfred and Marian Holtegaard on December 17, 1924 in the Rushford, Minnesota area. She went to school in Rushford and Peterson and was baptized and confirmed at Rushford Lutheran Church.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

She was married and divorced twice. July 2, 1960, she married Clifford DeRuiter. Cliff died October 26, 2001. They were both retired, Cliff from Rochester Sand and Gravel and Madelyn from the Kahler Hotel

Madelyn loved to dance, go to the casino, do word puzzles, and watch her grandchildren grow up. She has five sons, three daughters, 20 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.

Madelyn was preceded in death by Russ Burfield, Herbert Ferguson, Clifford DeRuiter, a son, Dennis Ferguson; a brother, Lyle Holtegaard; and a sister, Margel Lange.

She is survived by three daughters, Beverly Ferguson, Susan Kuehn, and Helen (Roy) Radke, all of Rochester; five sons, Ronald Burfield of Houston, MN, Robert (Sue) Ferguson, Steven (Cheri) DeRuiter or Rochester, Gary (Clare) Ferguson of St. Clare, MN, and Terry Ferguson of Pine Island; two sisters, Donna (Russ) Olson of Twin Valley, MN, and Evelyn Gehrking of Spring Valley, MN; three brothers, Larry, Bernie (Deb), Richard (Barb) Holtegaard of Rochester.

Thanks to Golden Living Nursing Home East and St. Croix Hospice for special care and friendship. We appreciate all you have done for our mother.
