Lula”Judy” M. Vandal
Judy Vandal’s family prayer service will be at 10:30AM at River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home followed by a public graveside service at 11:00AM Saturday, August 18, 2012 in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rochester. A visitation for the public will be held from 5:00PM – 8:00PM on Friday, August 17, 2012 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.
Mrs. Vandal, 97 of Byron, MN, formerly of Rochester died Tuesday, August 14, 2012 of natural causes at the Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN.
Judy was born May 20, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN to Harvey and Lula Austin Corliss. She graduated from high school in Minneapolis. On May 21, 1935 she married Wilfred J. “Fritz” Vandal and raised their family of six children before she and Fritz moved to Byron.
Judy worked at the Mayo Clinic for a short time, but mainly stayed home to raise her family.
Survivors include three sons; David (Nancy) of Pensacola, FL, Wayne (Kathy) of Kasson, Jim (Ruth) of Byron and a daughter, Rosemary (John) Lyman of Whitefish, MT; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons (Gerald and Dale), father, mother and two sisters.
Judy loved painting, crafts, home decorating and family gatherings. She spent many hours setting out Christmas decorations for the annual family Christmas Eve open house.
Memorials are preferred to the Fairview Care Center, 702 10th Avenue NW, PO Box 10, Dodge Center, MN 55927-0010.
