Lucile May Cobb

Lucile May Cobb, 85, long time Rochester resident, died on Friday, December 8, 2017. Lucile was born on December 2, 1932 to John and Bernetta Tiernan in Rolfe, Iowa. On May 18, 1953, Lucile married the love of her life, Le Roy Cobb. In 1956, they moved to Rochester, MN for Le Roy’s employment with Northwest Airlines. Lucile raised a family before heading back into the workforce and then spent many years working at Prudential Insurance Company in Rochester until her retirement.

Following their retirement, Lucile and Le Roy became snowbirds and wintered each year along the shores of South Carolina, Alabama and Florida. One of Lucile’s favorite sayings was “thank God for family”. Lucile looked forward to her annual vacation to the Brainerd lakes area each summer where upwards of 30 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren would spend a week together swimming, boating, and fishing. She referred to it as “just doing nothing” and loved every minute of it. Lucile loved to cook and found great joy in trying out new and tested recipes for her family. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s disease took a toll on her life journey. Although her memory slowly faded over time, her smile and the Irish sparkle in her eyes remained.

Lucile died peacefully at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester. She is survived by her children Diane (Eugene) Fieseler of Eyota, David (Janet) Cobb of De Pere, WI, Ray (Linda) Cobb of Rochester, and Ron (Lyndee) Cobb of Rochester, brothers Loren (Grace) Tiernan of Pocahontas, IA and Joe (Linda) Tiernan of Rolfe, IA, as well as nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband Le Roy Cobb, her parents John and Bernetta Tiernan, her sister Wilma Tiernan (Origer), and her brother James Tiernan.

Visitation will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St SE, Rochester, MN on Wednesday, December 13th at 9:30am with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

Ray, Linda, and Family:
My mom used to tell me about what she read in the Post Bulletin obituaries.  Now if I don't check them online, I miss things.  Anyway, thinking of you all during these days as you celebrate the life of your mom.  God bless.
