Louis “Boots” Mueller

Louis B. Mueller, “Boots”, born August 17, 1930 on the family farm in Elba Township, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, November 30, 2025, in Rochester, MN.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70+ years, Gloria (Krier) Mueller and his ten children, Mark (Bridgette) Mueller, Catherine (Philip) Spaniol, Rebecca (Michael) Arnold, Matthew (Sherrie) Mueller, Benjamin Mueller, Regina Mueller, Anthony (Kristin) Mueller, Lawrence (Loretta) Mueller, John Mueller, Monica (Shawn) Bishop; twenty grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Burt; sisters-in-law, Marie Mueller, Shirley (Krier) Berndt, Rose Krier; brother-in-law, Roland Holm and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lucy (Wieser) Mueller; siblings and their spouses, Leora (Bernard) Loftus, Cletus (Florence) Mueller, Sister Bona O.S.F., George (Carlene) Mueller, Leo “Ted” (Lucille) Mueller, Arthur “Nick” (Helen) Mueller, James Mueller, Edith Holm, Marlene “Bets” (Thomas) Lehnertz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond (Cecelia) Krier; brothers-in-law, Willis Berndt, Darrel “Dean” Krier, Richard Krier, Rodney Burt; sister-in-law, Audrey Krier and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret (Gerald) Rahman.

Boots was most proud of his Luxembourg heritage. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Charles High School. After graduating, he left the farm in the early 1950’s to work at St. Marys Hospital, then on to Marigold Dairy, where he met Gloria. He was a proud union member (Carpenter’s Local #1382) for over 40 years and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree). Boots and Gloria retired to Sun City, AZ in 2002, where he took on an occasional “handyman” job, worked at Ace Hardware and spent many hours in the Community Center woodshop, where he crafted many wooden bowls, boxes, crosses and clocks that he gave away to anyone that wanted one. They moved back to Rochester in 2022 to be closer to family. Boots spent his last days receiving many visitors, going for an occasional ride, usually around Elba and past the family farm. He enjoyed company, an occasional Coors Light and a shot of Brandy (4 fingers) before bed. He will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1900 6th st., St. Charles, MN 55972.  Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m.  Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE Rochester. An additional visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Aloysius Cemetery in Elba, MN. Condolences

The family of Louis “Boots” Mueller has received the following condolences.

Gloria and family,

I’m very sorry to hear of Uncle Louis passing. I know how hard it is to lose your dad. Richard was my dad. I just remember your dad as a quiet, thoughtful man. I admired that. However I could be remembering him that way because the Krier family were always so loud!

God bless Louis, Gloria, and your whole family!

Much love to you all,

Kelly

My condolences on your family’s loss. I remember Louis fondly. I remember his great car too!

Mary Bruns Pyfferoen

Sending my deepest sympathy to all of you.
Love,

Mary

God has taken a good man home! Clara and family - please know of our love, hugs and prayers. Nancy & Tom Hockert

Greatest sympathy to all: Aunt Gloria, Mark, Cathy, Becky, Matt,  Ben,  Regina, Tony, John and Monica and families. Uncles Boots was the best! The smile, the laugh, the stories and just letting us sit out in the garage and visit. He shall be greatly missed but what a Mueller party happening in heaven.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.

Love to all.

Colleen

I will always cherish the memories we had.... bike rides, apple peeling at Sekapp, projects in the workshop, riding in Model T in the Rochesterfest Parade, making orange juice down in AZ, and of course card games. Love you, Grandpa!
