Loretta Ellen O’Neil

A funeral Mass for Loretta Ellen O’Neil will be at 10:30AM, Saturday, March 9, 2013 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Jewison officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass.  Burial will take place in the Spring at Calvary Cemetery in Chatfield.

Loretta O’Neil, 81 of Rochester, passed away at Rochester Methodist Hospital on March 5, 2013.

Loretta Ellen O’Neil was born on November 14, 1931 at home in Cummingsville Minnesota (Olmsted County) to John P. and Katharin L. (Dueppen) O’Neil.  She attended rural school District 17.

She became developmentally disabled after age 2 and was unable to attend school full time.

Loretta lived at the Social Adaption Center at the State Hospital until its closing, then at Rochester Healthcare until moving to Hiawatha Homes in 2000.  She was active at Possibilities Senior Program until recently.

She loved old time music, dancing, going to movies, out to eat and bowling.  Her favorite television programs were The Lawrence Welk Show, The Andy Griffith Show and The Price is Right.  She also enjoyed western movies.

Loretta is survived by her sister Mary Cecilia, sisters-in-laws Rosanne O’Neil and Mary O’Neil; 7 nieces, 5 nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Sylvester, Paul, Agnes, Jack, Teresa, nephew John and niece Peggy.
