Mr. Vogt, 87, of Rochester, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at Maple Manor Nursing Home.
Lloyd was born in Roselle, Iowa on May 19, 1925. He was the oldest son, the second of ten children, born to Theodore and Clara (Neppl) Vogt. When he was 18, he entered the Army and proudly served as a medic. He was injured in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart for his service. When he returned home to Carroll, Iowa, he met Regina Golwitzer, his loving wife of 65 years. They were married on June 23, 1947 and farmed in Iowa for several years. Later, they moved to the Grand Meadow, Minnesota area, where they bought a farm and raised three children, of whom he was very proud. They all worked on the farm together and enjoyed many good times camping, traveling and fishing.
Farming was very important to Lloyd. After he retired and he and Regina moved to Rochester, Lloyd continued to work on the farm with his sons for many years. In his later years, farming was one of his favorite topics.
Lloyd’s other passion was fishing. He loved to travel up North with his motor home and boat. He shared these trips with his family, and he taught many grandchildren the joys of fishing.
Lloyd had a good work ethic and he was proud of passing that on to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed spending winters in Florida, Texas and Arizona. He was a devoted Catholic and frequently led his family in prayer. He also enjoyed popcorn, peanuts, Westerns, walking, grocery shopping, watching the Minnesota Twins, his wife’s good cooking and family get-togethers.
He is survived by his wife, Regina, two sons; Gary (Vicky) of Grand Meadow and Ronald (Gerri) of Spring Valley; one daughter, Gloria (Tom) Bunne of Grand Meadow; 10 grandchildren, Shawn (Patrick) Vogt Sween, Erin (Tim) Vogt Stromberg, Kristin (Justin) Osborne, Justine (Dan) Prieve, Brady (Larissa) Wolfgram, Briana Wolfgram, Mitchel Wolfgram, Mitchel (Katie) Bunne, Taylor Bunne, Brent Bunne and eleven great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Lois) Vogt, Laura (Warren) Stangl, Margaret Stangl, Marilyn Bauer, Corrine (John) Gollobit and Bonnie Vogt. He was preceded in death by siblings Art Vogt, Velma Masching and Mardell Phipps.

Condolences
The family of Lloyd Theodore Vogt has received the following condolences.
My favorite memory of Lloyd is from the National FCCLA convention in St. Louis. He was always up, even earlier than me, and sitting in the lobby watching the world go by. We always had a small chat. That was an exciting time for the family and myself.
I am really sorry I will miss the service but I had made a committment for 4-H judging in Zumbrota.
Blessed be his memory.

Dear Family of Lloyd's,
My most heart-felt sympathy goes out to you all. The best thing is (and it's hard to see that now) that Lloyd is no longer suffering and is having fun making others laugh.
I am glad that Mom and I were able to see him on the 5th. I know that meant alot to her getting to see him one last time.
Lean on each other during these next few weeks/months. Regina will need your support now more that ever.
Take care.

Good bye Uncle Lloyd! I will always remember your humor and your smile. You touched my life when I was 16 years old and you and Aunt Regina came to Omaha to visit us. I had just turned 16 years old and my dad didn't think I should be able to drive yet. You asked me if I wanted to ride to the store with you and you took me to the parking lot and taught me how to drive. I never forgot that!
We didn't get to see you often but when we did I loved it because you teased us and made us laugh. Over the years, my dad has shared many memories of you from when you were kids. I know that Aunt Regina will miss you and your children and grandkids will too. You will be in heaven now and telling stories and making the angels laugh!
God Bless your family!
Love, Peggi
Regina, Gary, Ron, Gloria and family,
May your memories give you strength and may the love of those around you help you through the days ahead.....
God saw him getting tired and a cure was not to be. God put His arms around him and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes watching over him, he slowly slipped away. Loved so dearly, and no one could make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke the hearts of those he left behind, to prove he only takes the best.
Our presence cannot be with you during this time because of distance afar. Just know that our prayers and thoughts will be with you. I will always cherish that last visit we shared with my Godfather Lloyd just 7 short weeks ago.
