Lisa Stevens

Lisa Ann Stevens, a devoted professional, passionate advocate, and beloved community member, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Born on October 2, 1963, in Rochester, Minnesota, Lisa was the cherished daughter of Randy and Kathy (Tenley) Stevens.

Lisa’s educational journey began at Rochester Community College, where she earned her Associate of Arts degree. She continued her academic pursuit with a Bachelor of Arts from Winona State University, followed by a Master of Arts from Mankato State University. Lisa was dedicated to advancing her knowledge and had been in the final stages of earning her PhD (all but dissertation) from the University of Minnesota. On June 23, 2000, Lisa was united in marriage to Troy Stevermer.

Professionally, Lisa made a significant impact through her work as the owner of Stevens Consulting LLC. She previously served as an Executive HR consultant with Personnel Decisions International, contributing her expertise to various organizations. Her commitment to community service was evident in her roles with the West St. Paul Planning Commission/Environmental Committee, as an Election Judge, and as a former campaign manager for a State Senator.

Lisa’s dedication to making a difference extended beyond her professional life. She was an avid gardener, a compassionate foster parent for dogs and cats through Safe Hands, and an enthusiastic supporter of local, state, and national politics. Her advocacy for women’s rights and her dedication to traveling and spending quality time with her family were central to her life.

A person of deep generosity, Lisa supported Save My Children from a young age and continued her philanthropic efforts throughout her life. She was an ardent donor to various political campaigns and was committed to helping others through organ and tissue donation, in which she was able to help over 100 people.

Lisa is survived by her loving husband, Troy Stevermer; daughter, Olivia Stevermer; brother, Rob (Dawn) Stevens; many nieces and nephews and many others who were touched by her kindness. Lisa was preceded in death by her stillborn daughter, Samantha Mae Stevermer, and by her parents, Randy and Kathy Stevens.

Lisa’s legacy will live on through her giving heart, unwavering dedication, and the joy she found in helping others. She will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Lisa’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2024 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Ave. NE, Rochester, MN 55906 with Pastor Paul Bauch officiating. Condolences

The family of Lisa Stevens has received the following condolences.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Lisa's tragic death. As her PDI colleague, I found Lisa a joy to work with. Her sharp mind, quick wit, and sunny disposition lit up every work space she entered. She was so full of life and love; this loss leaves a hole in many hearts. Troy and Olivia, please accept my deepest sympathy and wishes for comfort and peace.

Dear Troy and Oliva,

I was so very sorry to learn of the tragic and unnecessary death of Lisa.  Lisa was a treasured colleague - smart, hard working, collaborative and oh so witty.  She was always lively and full of fun as well as intellectual curiosity and good thinking.  I know she loved you both so much.  I am sorry you must bear this loss.

With deepest sympathy,

Cindy Marsh (PDI)

dear Troy and all who love Lisa

I am so very sorry to read that Lisa has died, so recently, so suddenly, and yes - for now - so unnecessarily.
There are never words for these kinds of times - so incompletely they land.
If, in time, a long time from now even, it makes sense to connect with someone who knew Lisa from PDI days - those marvellous years - and who since then has (also) lost a spouse and child... I hope you will look me up.
I won't be able to change anything.
But I will be able to witness.

For what it's worth.

go gently, sweet Lisa
go gently, all of you

Emma Pearson

I am sorry to hear of Lisa's passing.   I worked with her for a number of years at PDI on a few key accounts.   She was always very respected and enjoyable to work with.  Most of all, she was a really good person!

My sympathies to all her family and friends and especially Troy.

May she R.I.P.

Lisa was a singular light in our lives. She made the world around her better, and she made us better, and she inspired us as nobody else has. West St Paul and the surrounding community are a better place in a thousand ways, big and small, because of her life. We will miss her. We will carry her inspiration with us.

We are so sad to hear of Lisa's early passing. Lisa lived a life of service and also of smiles. The love, respect and support between Lisa, Troy and Olivia was evident all the way back to Somerset Elementary days. Lisa made a positive impact on so many in our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Troy, Olivia, Rob and family,

I am sorry to hear of Lisa’s passing. My family lived 3 houses away and Kathy was my younger brother’s daycare provider. My oldest brother babysat for Lisa at times. Such a great family. It looks like she touched many lives in such a short time. Troy I remember you from your time working at Mayo in HR. Prayers for healing your hearts.

I went to school with Lisa in our formative years and I always admired her. She had a true gift of communication and care at an early age and the best damn hair ever. Reading about all her accomplishments makes me admire her more and share in such a loss of an incredible and strong woman. My heart aches for all those close to her now.

Dear Troy:  I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your wife.  Please accept my sincere condolences and sympathy. I pray that you find peace in the  precious memories of her and in your daughter.  I know that nothing I say will make things better but I just want you to know that I am thinking about you and your daughter during this difficult times.  Stay in God's Grace.

Warm Regards

Bibi

Dear Troy,  I am truly sorry to hear of your wife's passing.  It is hard to find the word to express the tragedy of such a loss  at such a young age. Please  accept my condolences.

Olivia and Troy, I can’t express how sorry I am, it is so shocking and tragic to lose someone so good. Our hearts are breaking but we hope for peace and comfort to come. We are crying with you and Olivia, and with you in kindred spirit, sending our loving embrace to you both-she was such a great woman!

Lisa, thank you for being such a beautiful, kick ass boss lady. Your strength and bravery were evident even in the short times I was privileged to spend time with you. I always left wanting to see you more and truly hoped I could chat with you again. When I saw that you publicly announced you were a feminist, I knew I admired you even more. Every time I saw you I’d say to my husband Robbie, “I love Lisa! She is just so awesome!”

You had a warmth, kindness, humor, and intelligence that was rare, an openness and loving heart that I appreciate so much in this world. You’re the kind of person I want to be, and an inspiration to us all. And you raised one heck of a daughter to carry on your legacy.

Here’s to you, Lisa, I hope my Dad is up there with your Dad and Mom, your baby Samantha, and Hoo Hoo and Grandma and all of your people to welcome you with open arms to the next world. You are so missed and forever cherished!

You are inspiring so many even now and will continue to do so through your selfless acts here on earth, till the very end, even including giving away your organs. So truly generous. I will try my best to continue your legacy of helping others by doing the hard thing, being proud of my views, showing up, speaking up, and being brave. I love you. 🙏💙

Lisa was such a wonderful colleague as her energy had such a beautiful intersection of intelligence, compassion and humor.  She was such a dear friend to me as she helped me walk through a very difficult period of  my life.  I still share how she touched me and the hope she gave me when I cross paths with those now who are going through challenging losses.

Although she is now at Peace her smile, laugh and love live on.
