She graduated from Lourdes High School in 1971. While working at the Oakview and Chateau theatres in Rochester, she met the love of her life, Michael Henry, on a blind date. Linda was an avid activist for the things she believed in which included her faith, service to America’s Veterans, and her political beliefs. She was a volunteer for many years for organizations including Alateen, VFW Auxiliary, St. John the Evangelist Church, and Local 21 Union. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, serving in the role of President, Treasurer, as well as district President for three years.
She spent 25 years working at the Kahler Hotel in the Bakery Basket/Grand Grill followed by working for UNITE HERE Local 21 and Hy-Vee Barlow in the bakery.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Henry; sons Chad (Nicki) and Shane Henry; daughter, Malinda (John) Wilcox; mother (Patricia Zirbes); grandchildren, Hannah, Brayden, Alexis, Michael, Melia, Lorra, and Clara; great-grandson, Micah; sister, Rhonda (Michael) Franken; brothers, Michael (Carol) and David Zirbes; sister-in-law, Judy; brother-in-law, Bob; many nieces and nephews; and special friends (Karen, Mary, and Tammy). A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 at Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Rochester with Rev. Msgr. Gerald Mahon officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, August 22, 2024 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday. Mike and family, Our deepest sympathies to all of you. Linda was such a kind, gentle, and friendly person. I first met her when we were both "newbies" as VFW District Presidents. We sat next to each other during the three annual Department Auxiliary conferences and convention, and we became great friends. Linda was always so willing to help me out and explain things. This past year, she was the District Scholarship Chair and did an outstanding job in that role. I will miss her friendship and her gentle way, and the smile that she always wore. She was a great leader and a great mentor. Wishing you and yours peace, hope, and comfort during this time. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers.
