Linda K. Johnson

Linda Kathleen Johnson, age 65, of Rochester, MN formerly of Blackberry, MN, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN.

Linda was born October 21, 1958, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Howard J. and Margaret M. Johnson. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1977. She continued her education and earned her nursing degree at Itasca Community College. She worked at the County Nursing Home and other medical facilities. After losing her vision, she continued her education again and earned her Master’s in Community Counseling from Winona State University where she was recognized as the first blind student to complete their master’s program. Linda’s life took her to Rochester, Twin Cities and Duluth, Minnesota. While living in Duluth, she met Marvin Langanki, who would become a significant person in her life. While living in Rochester, Linda needed a kidney and pancreas transplant and had this major surgery completed at the Mayo Clinic. She was always proud to say her transplanted organs had served her well for 32 years. Even with all her health challenges, Linda always remained positive.

Linda can be described as exuberant, friendly, caring, free spirit and extraordinarily strong willed.  If you knew Linda, she loved animals – especially her dogs and cats! She had a infectious sense of humor and loved to care for people.

She will be deeply missed by her life partner, Marvin Langanki; her sister, Janice (David) Clark; her brother, Steven (Barbara) Johnson; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Johnson and her husband, Keith Erholtz.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 12, 2024, at Rowe Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at Hazelwood Cemetery, rural Grand Rapids.

A Celebration of Life Event will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Friday, January 19, 2024 at Macken Funeral Home Riverpark Chapel in Rochester, Minnesota.
