Lillian Yen
Lillian Huichin Yen, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born on November 1, 1961, in Taipei, Taiwan, to Chung Ken and Chiao Ying Yen, Lillian grew up with a spirit of resilience and warmth. On January 24, 1988, she married Yishan Yen, after a joyful encounter at Square Dancing classes four years earlier. Together, they built a loving home, and on February 3, 1997, she welcomed twin daughters, Peggy and Tiffany. With strength and devotion, she raised them into accomplished and compassionate adults, a true reflection of her unwavering love.
Lillian embraced life with curiosity and joy. She loved traveling, crocheting, trying new foods, and sharing meals with loved ones. Her adventurous spirit filled her days with journeys, new friendships, and meaningful experiences. Her love for food also brought people together. Her table was always open, whether for friends from church, families new to Rochester, or her daughters’ classmates far from home during the holidays. For every guest, she created not just a meal but a sense of belonging, offering a home away from home.
Her kindness reached far beyond her own household. In Rochester, whenever new families arrived for short-term fellowships, Lillian dedicated herself to supporting them. Having once faced the challenges of living abroad, she understood their struggles and offered guidance, encouragement, and kindness. Her joyful, welcoming presence left a lasting mark on all who knew her. Friends and family remember her as a sun that brightened every room she entered, filling it with her distinctive, infectious spirit.
She is survived by her husband, Yishan, and her daughters, Peggy and Tiffany, who faithfully stood by her side through every season. Lillian’s legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith. As a devoted follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, her unwavering faith was an inspiration to many. Though her absence leaves a deep void, we find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her parents in heaven.
As we bid farewell to Lillian, we remain deeply grateful for the joy she brought into our lives. She will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will continue to live on in our hearts.
