Lester Hubert Kruse

The funeral mass for Lester H. Kruse will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Saint Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. Charlie I. Collins and Msgr. Thomas Hargesheimer officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14^th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 92.

Lester H. Kruse, 95, of Rochester, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth.

Lester was born January 8, 1918 in Mankato, Minnesota to John and Julia (Lang) Kruse.  He married LaVonne Johnson on June 19, 1943 in St. Clair, Minnesota.  Lester served in the United States Army during WWII.

Lester worked as a postal clerk in Rochester and retired in 1976.  He was a member of Saint Pius X Catholic Church, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Survivors include his wife, LaVonne Kruse; daughter, Karen Heater of Vancouver, WA, 3 grandchildren, James Lester of Vancouver, USA, Ben (Maggie) Heater of Seattle, WA and Lucas (Hadley) Heater of Seattle, WA; 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Mason Barry and Henry Heater and a sister, Loretta Larson of Mankato, MN.  He is preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
