Leda Amelia Meyer

Our mom, Leda Amelia Tangen Batzel Meyer, 86, of Rochester, died on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Shorewood Assisted Living. Mom was born on the family farm in Filmore County, Minnesota, on Saturday, July 20, 1935, to Anton and Caroline (Anderson) Tangen. Mom graduated from Chatfield High School in 1953. She married Kenneth Ronald Batzel on December 29, 1953, and they later divorced. Mom then married Marvin Alvin Meyer on April 12, 1975, and he preceded her in death on August 16, 2005.

Mom worked at Rundell Lumber, as a personal housekeeper, at Weber & Judd, and then at Saint Marys Hospital until her retirement in 1993.

Mom enjoyed being with her family, telling stories, travelling, wintering in Texas, camping, playing horseshoes, going to garage sales, playing games, putting puzzles together, and dancing.

Mom is survived by her children, Alan Batzel, Deb Bandy and Randy (Sam) (Diane) Batzel of Rochester and Julie (Jason) Whitcomb of Dover; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Roger Hanson of Hayfield formerly of Kasson. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, son Dale, and sisters and brothers-in-law Marion and Art Wentworth (Preston) and Doris and Bill Burk (Albuquerque).

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 15, 2021, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, 1300 Marion Road SE, Rochester.

Mom, we will miss your spirit, feistiness and spunk. May you forever rest in peace and always find comfort in Psalms 23:4 — Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are waiting with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Mom I'm gonna miss talking to you and seeing your beautiful face when I would come over to see you. I will see you when the good old lord calls me home.love you Sam your son.

Julie, Jason and Aubrey,  I am so sorry for your loss.  Leda was a special person. Sending prayers and wishes for the healing of your hearts.

Love to you from the Mazis

My deepest sympathy to you,Jason,Julie and Aubrie ,on the passing of mother, mother in law and grandma.I am sure she will be deeply missed by all.

We send our deepest sympathy to Leda’s family. She was a good friend and card player of ours for many years. God bless all of you. Gordy is not doing very well, so we are unable to attend the funeral tomorrow but our prayers will be with you.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Aunt Leda. Fond childhood memories flood through my mind when I think of her. We were blessed doubly because she was related to us by her marriage to our Uncle Ken but we never thought of her all of our life as anything other than family.  She graciously extended an invitation to us to stay with her and the kids when our home was damaged by a downed pine tree - she crammed us 4 kids and our mom into her small home with her 5 kids - and never once let on that it was an imposition as I'm sure it had to be.  I can picture her now dancing a Polka in Heaven.  May her family find comfort during this sad and emotional time.  The family of Jeanette Berg (Don, Linda, Charlie and Jeff)

I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers go out to you all.

So sorry to learn of her passing! My dad and Ken were great friends. In fact my outside clothesline poles came from Ken.

Leda was always so kind and nice. May she rest in peace!

I loved Leda.  She was so spunky and fun.  Her spirit will live forever.  Love, Mary Jane

I was so sorry to hear of Leda's passing. She was a fun friend. I have many good memories of time spent with Marv & Leda. Blessed be her memory.❤
