LCPL Curtis Michael Swenson

The funeral service for U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Curtis Michael Swenson will be at 10:00AM on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Rev. Norman Wahl officiating.  LCPL  Swenson died in Afghanistan due to injuries sustained from an IED explosion.

Curtis was born May 11, 1989 in Rochester to Dave and Kay Swenson.  He graduated from Mayo High School in 2007, and then enlisted in the Marine Corps.  On August 26, 2009 he married Katie Ingle in Oahu, Hawaii.  The couple presently resided in Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii.

Curtis is survived by his wife, parents and one sister, Emily Swenson of Rochester.  He was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Max Swenson and a maternal grandfather, Bud Sperger.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, camping and spending time with friends and family.

Friends may call Friday, April 9, 2010 from 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Bethel Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.  Burial will be at the Stone Church Cemetery in Houston, MN.

Memorials may be sent to the Bethel Lutheran Church’s youth activity programs and there will also be a scholarship fund established by the Rochester Marine Corp League.
