LaVonne Eleanor Kruse

LaVonne Kruse, 96, passed away on Friday September 1, 2017 at Madonna Towers in Rochester.  The funeral mass will be at 11:00 am Friday September 8, 2017 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester with Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. There will be a  visitation one hour prior to the mass at church on Friday. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

LaVonne was born in Rochester on April 26, 1921, and graduated from Rochester High School in 1939. LaVonne went to work at the Mayo Clinic in the files and records area. On June 19, 1943, she married Lester Kruse of Mankato where they made their home. LaVonne worked for Standard Oil until moving back to Rochester in May 1946. On October 16, 1950, she began her employment at Sears Roebuck, part-time, then later full-time, retiring after 40 years in the accounting department.

Following retirement, she pursued the many activities she enjoyed. She loved her summer home on Sand Prairie at the Mississippi, spending time with friends, boating and picnicking. Dear in her heart were 23 Februarys spent in Hawaii with her husband as well as trips to Alaska, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden. She enjoyed music and played piano and organ for her own entertainment. Other activities included solving puzzles, knitting, crocheting, playing games on her computer, the latter of which she bought and learned at the age of 90.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen Heater of Vancouver, WA; three grandsons, James Barry or Ridgefield, WA, Benjamin (Maggie) Heater of Seattle, WA, and Lucas (Hadley) Heater of Riverview, FL; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Barry, Mason Barry, and Henry Heater. She preceded in death by her husband, Lester Kruse, and her parents, Pearl and William Johnson.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association, St. Pius X Church renovation, or donor’s choice.

Condolences

The family of LaVonne Eleanor Kruse has received the following condolences.

We look forward to seeing our loved ones again because of the Bible's promise at Acts 24:15 "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Please accept my deepest sympathy, and for more comforting information you may refer to jw.org.

Every Friday I would have lunch with Lavonne and do her shopping for the week. I am so very thankful for her and everything she has taught me over the last few years. When you are in your last few years and you know it, it can be a very lonely place.. I'm so glad she had such lovely friends and family that loved her and cared for her daily. Lavonne was one strong lady and will be missed greatly.

Love, RobinAllen
