Larry A. Hughes

On March 16, 1951, Sonny and Leotta Hughes gave birth to Larry; He joined four wonderful sisters, Darlene, Margie, Janice, and Sharon along with two unforgettable brothers, Duane and Ronnie.

Larry’s earliest memories involved him checking the covers at night for the boogeyman and riding his pony.

He was honored to be an altar boy in his catholic church.

As he grew and went though his teenage years, many people had the opportunity to share a one of a kind memory with Larry; you know who you are.

Larry and Susan met and fell immediately in love 32 years ago.  One week after a game of hearts they were engaged and six months later they promised vows to each other.  Over the next three years they were blessed with three incredible children Melissa, Larry (Bud) and Lacy.

Melissa’s most precious thought is the connection she made between Larry’s birthdate of March 16, 1951 and the Bibles, John 3:16 which reads “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that who so ever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life”.

Buds most precious memory is of him and his dad at Vikings vs. Dallas playoffs watching Farve in his official jersey.

Lacy’s special connection involves the resemblance between her hands and her dads.  She will always remember how soft and kind they were but yet so hard and strong.

Mel, Brian and Wayne all shared a special place in Larry’s heart.

Larry clearly felt strong about instilling a passion for politics throughout his family.  Politics will never be the same without him.

Regretfully, on Wednesday Brian 14, Logan 13, Bianca 11, Patricia 10, Cody 10, Mikayla 9, Natalie 9, Dylan 6, and Grayce 4, will all say goodbye to grandpa and wish him a wonderful journey.

The funeral service for Larry will be at 2:00pm Wednesday April 13, 2011 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 4:00pm – 8:00pm Tuesday evening and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.  Burial will be Oakwood East Cemetery in Rochester.

Bless you Larry; Go in peace.
