Kimberly Kay Reinsvold

After over a two year fight with GIST cancer, Kim passed away in the comfort of her home in the early morning of Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the age of 50 with family by her side.

She was born to the late David and Nancy Craft on November 29, 1967 in Rochester, MN. She graduated from Stewartville High School in 1986. Kim married Robert Reinsvold in 1989 and the couple later divorced. She was a long time employee of 23 years at Mayo Clinic.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and going to races with family and friends. She loved taking scenic view back road drives, watching Hallmark movie channel, and her hummingbirds. Kim was very caring, helpful, and a mentor to many.

Kim  is survived by her parents, Donald “Tuck” (Sue) Swenson of Rochester; Nancy (Roger) Bollinger of Eau Claire, WI; daughters, Krysta Segura of Pine Island and Brooke (Ernesto) Villa of Rochester; brothers, Ty Swenson of Rochester and Todd (Joni) Craft of Andover, MN; grandmother, Helen Craft of Wanamingo; five grandchildren, Jacoby, Dominick, Alyiah, Daniel, and Ernesto; and numerous extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her biological father; grandparents, Douglas Craft, Dale (Lorretta) Devries, Donald (Dora) Swenson; special grandmother, Edith Medlar; and dog, Winger.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.

I met Kim on the GIST website. I was diagnosed with a GIST at Mayo two summers ago. I was able to visit with Kim while I was at Mayo Clinic the past couple of years. In fact, I saw her in June. She was a lovely person & it didn't surprise me when I read of her enjoying Hallmark movies...she was so positive and caring. I am so shocked and saddened this afternoon in reading this. I DID know Kim was going through some really difficult and challenging times as of late. I didn't know Kim well but it was certainly my gift and my pleasure to meet her along this journey. Please feel free to contact me at ANY time. I would like to at least send a card but unsure where to send it. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Kim was a very special caring person. I am sorry. Jerry

So sorry for your loss.  I worked with Kim back in my neuro days.  We had some good times.

My heart is heavy to hear that Kim had passed, we started PSR training at Mayo Clinic over 22 years ago and worked in Neuro together. She was so fun, caring and just a great person! My condolences to the family.

To Kim Reinsvold Family,

Even though we don't know you personally, Todd is a very dear friend, and we would like to extend our sympathies to the entire family.  May God be with you at this sad time and take you through the next few months with His arms around you.

  • My sincere condolences to family and friends. May you find comfort in your loving memories, and in God's promise to soon "swallow up death forever" and "wipe away the tears from all faces." (Isaiah 25;8) Rev 21:4  “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

I am so sorry for your loss.  I worked with Kim at Mayo Clinic and she was always so caring.  I enjoyed her smile and the twinkle in her eyes.  Again so sorry.

I worked with Kim quite a few years on Gonda 3. I always enjoyed working with her and participating on task forces together.

I've only seen Kim a few times since I retired and had no idea she was sick. I am so saddened to hear about her passing. Way too young to leave this earth!

I know Kim enjoyed her daughters and adored her grandchildren.  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
