Kenneth “Ken” Michael Stoermann
Kenneth “Ken” Michael Stoermann, age 70, of Avon, died Thursday, February 3, 2022 at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in St. Wendel, MN with the Rev. Gregory Mastey officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 A.M. – 11 A.M at the church on Wednesday. Interment will follow at St. Columbkille Parish Cemetery.
Ken was the first born of 4 children to Boniface and Delphine (Paggen) Stoermann on October 14, 1951, in St. Cloud, MN. He was raised in Holdingford, where the family attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in which he was an altar server. Ken graduated from Holdingford High School in 1969 and married his high school sweetheart, Linda Marie Pierskalla on August 22, 1970, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church.
Ken worked as a welder and millwright in Local 548 working for M.A. Mortenson Company, Eagan Company, Sartell Paper Mill, and Lovegreen. Over the course of his career, Ken traveled to Alaska, Washington, Texas and Virginia and locally worked on the Becker Power Plant, Target Center, Ford Motor Company-St. Paul, Praire Du Chien Power Plant, Prairie Island Nuclear Power Plant, and Monticello Nuclear Powerplant. In spare time, he would operate his business Ken’s Portable Welding where he thawed many water lines for neighboring towns.
Ken was an avid trap shooter, traveling near and far for local and national shoots. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and rodeos, auctions, collecting Ford vehicles, riding his Harley, going to the casino, car drives, giving his family rides on his ATV or side-by-side and mostly telling a good story!
Ken is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Stoermann of Avon; son, Shawn (Diana) Stoermann of New Ulm; daughters, Kim (Jeff) Gertken of Richmond and Kerrie (Alex Woodmun) Stoermann of Rochester; grandchildren, Ashley and Adam Gertken, Kaden Stoermann and Dylan, Tyler, Eli and Parker Woodmun; brothers, Kevin (Joanne) Stoermann of St. Cloud and Jeff (Lisa) Stoermann of Holdingford.
He is preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Keith Stoermann.
