Kay Pearson

Kay Patricia Pearson (Mogen) affectionately known as Gramma Kay to all, age 89, of Rochester, MN passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, peacefully at her home.

Kay was born November 14, 1936, in Rochester, MN to Carl and Minnie (Seeverts) Mogen. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1954. Kay married the love of her life, Dale Pearson, on October 21, 1955 at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN. The couple spent their 70 years of marriage in Rochester. Together, Kay and Dale owned Quality Printing in Rochester, MN. Kay ended her career at Mayo Clinic in Radiology.

Kay and Dale traveled the Mississippi River, the country and world together. She loved music, dancing, and the piano. She was active in the Elks and DOES. Kay loved socializing and enjoyed outdoor activities like golf and bird watching. She baked the best cookies and pumpkin bread. Kay always had a kind word or compliment for everyone she encountered. Kay was deeply proud of her Norwegian roots. Each year, she faithfully led the family in the tradition of making lefse, ensuring that her heritage and recipes were passed down to the next generations. You always knew Kay was nearby when you heard her trademark “Yoo-hoo.”

Kay is survived by her husband, Dale Pearson; her daughters, Elizabeth (James) Schinigoi and Julieann (Dan) McGinn; five grandchildren, Dawn Coughlin, Amber (Youness) Bojji, Hope (Cristian) Martinez, Johnathan (Suzette) Schinigoi, and Martinique (William) McGinn-Thomas; eleven great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, nieces and nephews.

Condolences

The family of Kay Pearson has received the following condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. I always enjoyed seeing and talking with her at the Elks Club. She will be missed by many.

Dearest Dale,

I was so sad to hear about Kay's passing. It's been one of my life's delights to remember 'growing up on a parade route' with all the wonderful drum corps families! There are so few left now, and the passing of time deepens my memories and fondness for you all. Dad (John) loved the Corps, all you men and the lifetime of friendships! What a great bunch for guys! Mom (Marj) loved her Drum Corps Ladies luncheons and card games. Mike and I always enjoyed chatting with you two at 'Charlies'! Be blessed and embrace her memories. You're so cute together and she has the best laugh!!! She will be missed!

Dale, Liz. Dawn, Amber, Julieann and family. I am so sorry and sad about the passing of Kay. She was so beautiful and funny! For the short time I got to know her I miss seeing her so much.. Kay is at peace now and I pray for all of the family during this difficult time. May peace be with you all.🙏🏻

Visiting Angel

I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful wife/mother/grandmother. She was a gem and I am so happy to have known her since I was the pain in the butt little sister of her best friend, Jane. She was always so kind to me then and later as our paths crossed at the Elks. She was always a delight!  I will miss her.

My sympathy to you Dale and your family

Kay was true sweartheart

Dale, Liz, and Julieann.  so sorry to hear of Kay's passing.  She was a real sweetheart and will certainly be missed by many.  I'm remembering all the fun we had "up north" and at our winter conventions.  I will be out of town for her funeral, but will be thinking of you.

So sorry to hear about Kay's passing.   She was such an elegant lady.   My deepest sympathy to you all.

Many of happy hours in the house of my Aunt and Uncle.  So many memories of holidays, sleep overs, trips and lots of hugs.  I also had the joy of working with them at Quality Printing. You are forever in my heart. Love to Dale and family.
