Kay Elaine Cox

Kay Elaine Cox, 81, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at The Mayo Clinic, Methodist campus.

Kay was born October 3, 1943 in Rochester to Raymond and Joyce (Yennie) Daniels. After graduating from high school, Kay was united in marriage to Michael Cox on October 1, in which they just celebrated their big 60th wedding anniversary.  Kay and Mike were blessed with two children, Joseph and Julie. Kay worked for numerous years as a housekeeper for Charter House, but also took great pride in being a homemaker and raising her children and helping to care for her grandchildren. She enjoyed caring for her plants, gardening, and crocheting afghans for family and friends. Kay also loved to cook but she especially loved to bake, whether it was buns for many occasions or cookies and brownies to send home with her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring woman but also she had a hardworking and stubborn side. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Kay is survived by her loving husband, Michael John Cox; children, Joseph (Iris) Cox, Julie (David) Wingert; grandchildren, Shelby Cox, Nicholas Wingert, Christopher Wingert, Nathan Wingert, Brisa Cox, Elvis Cox, Jason Blanco, Andrew Cox; great-grandchildren, Aly Cox, Rosie Cox, Emery Cox, and Keenan Hamza. Kay is also survived by her sister, Joan (Loren) Lundstrom. Kay was preceded in death by her grandson, Wyatt Cox; brother, Stephen Daniels; sister, Janet Hofschulte and parents, Raymond and Joyce.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester. Father Nick Mezacapa will be officiating with burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens. To leave a special memory or condolence, please visit www.mackenfuneralhome.com
