Karen Lou Jensen

Mrs. Jensen, 80, died Sunday, March 25th, 2018 at Madonna Towers.

Karen Bilben was born December 19, 1937, in Walker, Minnesota, the daughter of Clifford and Ardis (Olson) Bilben.  She graduated from Walker High School in 1955 and attended Macalester College in St. Paul.

On June 18, 1958 she married Donald Jensen at the Walker Community Church.  They resided in the Hackensack area, living on Ten Mile Lake for over 50 years.

Karen is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don. Children:  David (Elena) Jensen of Phoenix; Laura (Keith) Tally of Rochester; and Steven (Meika) Jensen of Salt Lake City.  Grandchildren:  Matthew (Jenni) Jensen, Michael Jensen, Megan (Josh) Darras, Elisa Tally, and Heather (Joel) Clark.  Her great grandchildren: Jeremy, Lilith, Alisia and Ashton.  She is survived by her brother Dr. Steven Bilben, her sisters: Dr. Barb Bilben and Elaine Bilben; her sisters- and brothers-in-law Marian Wald, Dorothy Mull, Helen Howe, Jerry and Peggy Jensen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Karen was a strong and caring woman, who asked to be remembered for her love of Jesus.  She will be remembered for her faith as well as her love and service to her family and friends.  She was a tremendous cook, hostess, listener, and woman of prayer.  She was also a skilled Realtor, working many years alongside her husband. She battled rheumatoid arthritis for 37 years, along with a host of other medical issues.  Through it all she continued to care about others and love Jesus.  Karen will be greatly missed and remembered fondly by her family and friends that loved her so very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Ardis Bilben, and in-laws Ernest and Esther Jensen, and Bernice Jensen; her sister Sandra Richardson; her sister-in-law Sharon Bilben; her brothers-in-law Richard Jensen, Edgar Wald and Stanley Howe.

The family would like to thank the great staff at Madonna Towers who provided such exceptional care for Karen for nearly 12 years.

The celebration of life service will be held at Rochester Assembly Church on Thursday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the church sanctuary and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hackensack, MN. Another service will be held in the Hackensack-Walker area this summer.

Condolences

The family of Karen Lou Jensen has received the following condolences.

Dear Don, Laura, David & Steven,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I have fond memories of my time spent with Laura, especially at your home on Ten Mile Lake. Your mom was always so kind, patient and loving with us when we were young! Every time we drive past your place, it inspires me and I share with my husband how we had special times together. May the peace of Christ be with you all.

Hugs,

Sue (Elsenpeter) Jaeger

Don & Family,

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your mom with us for the last 12 years. It is not the same walking the halls and not seeing her anymore. She will forever have a place in our hearts.

We  reach  out to  with much sympathy.  It  is  so  hard  to  lose  a  part  of  the  family  and  a  mother  seems  to hold so much love.

Don and the Jensen Family,

You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  When I would see Karen, she always had a joy-filled smiled, always kind words, and her room was filled with pictures and memories of a life well lived by a much loved family.  Karen was truly an inspiration to so many of us who came to know her.  Thank you for sharing Karen with us at Madonna Towers/Madonna Living Community (MLC) these past twelve years.

Dear Don, God bless you, and all your family at this time of your loss. It has been a pleasure to know Karen over the years, always a smile and kindness from her heart. Go in the hope that God has given us.

Perhaps we will see you around 10 Mile Lake. Very fond memories are ours ever since you helped us to purchase our land across the lake from you. Easter joy to you and yours.

In His service,

To the Jensen family, especially my classmate David. My wife Beth and I give you our sincerest condolences. Karen was a wonderful caring person. Our prayers are with you and your entire family. I wish that I could attend the memorial but know that you are all in my prayers this day.

Don, David, Laura, Steve and Family,

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you for God’s peace and comfort. I remember Karen as a wonderful host, who always welcomed me in to your home whenever I came over. To me she was kind-hearted, warm and gracious. I will never forget my time at Ten Mile Lake because of people like her and your family.

So sad for your loss, but happy she is now with our Heavenly Father.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you

May you find comfort and support in the memories

you hold dear in your hearts.

With Deepest Sympathy,

Hackensack

Karen was a delight throughout her life. As her niece, I frequently visited her house in Hackensack. I enjoyed many informal cooking lessons from Karen. She knew so much and her kitchen jokes were really funny. She also helped me find so much fun in her world - horseback riding, gardening, fishing. The world would be a better place if there were more like Karen Jensen. Love Jan

Don, sorry for your loss.  Wish I could attend the service, but my Thursday is full already with church events here in Le Roy.

Luther friend, June Torrison

My love to all - Dot

Karen is home now.  New body, no pain, complete joy.  Don and David, Laura, Steve and your families - you are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this process of loss.  Such good memories you have of a smart, kind, and loving wife and mother to the family, who added spice to so many situations with that twinkle-in-the-eye sense of humor.

Don and family, may Karen's courageous and spirit-filled nature comfort and remain with you always. Be at peace knowing that her light continues to shine through you.
