She worked for Mayo Clinic Health Systems for 40 years, her last position as Appointment Coordinator in Gynecology, retiring December 31, 2014.

Karen was a loving wife and mother, caring friend and compassionate person. She spent her time, love, and energy with family, cooking, going to soccer games, camping and enjoying her grandchildren. She was the original “Soccer Mom”. Karen’s warmth and friendship has touched many lives and created many lasting memories that will be cherished.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Schlichter of Rochester; two children, Michele (Anthony) Keller of Elgin, MN, and Brandon of Fort Collins, CO; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kaylee; siblings, Mary Lee (Terry) Kueper of Rochester; Janet (Ron) Henry of Zumbrota; Glen (Linda) Pudenz of New Lisbon, WI; Jay (Lisa) Pudenz of Rose Creek, MN; in-laws, Robert Walerak of Rose Creek, MN; and Therese Pudenz of West Salem, WI; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bernice Pudenz; and siblings, Dale Pudenz and Rosanne (Pudenz) Walerak.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, February 9, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN. There will be a private burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Rose Creek, MN at a later date.

I had the opportunity and pleasure to work with Karen several years ago.  She was a dedicated employee who worked hard and assisted patients and coworkers as needed.  She had a great sense of humor and was compassionate.  She loved her family and enjoyed being with them and her friends.  She fought her illness with honor and strength.  May she now be enjoying the everlasting life and may her family and friends find comfort in their fond memories of Karen.  God Bless.
