Karen Ann Allen

Karen Thornton Allen, 75, of Rochester passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018.

Karen was born September 10, 1943 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester to Donald and Alma (Kopel) Thornton. She attended St. Francis grade school and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1961. She then went on to work at Mayo Clinic. On August 25, 1962, she married Kenneth C. Allen.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ken; children, Kelly (Tom) Allen-Sobeck, Kevin Allen, and Kyle (Summer) Allen; three grandchildren, Carrie, Riley and Tover; and one great-granddaughter, Natalyn. She is also survived by her sister, Rita Cox; and niece, Stacy and family.

A memorial Mass for Karen will be Monday October 15, 2018 at 9:30 AM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN with Fr. Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN.

Memorials are preferred to St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School in Rochester.

So sorry to hear of Karen’s passing.  Wishing you all comfort and peace at this difficult time.  Karen had such an infectious laugh that I will never forget and we all had such a great sense of family in our Meadowbrook neighborhood.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
