Juliana “Julie” Williams
Juliana “Julie” A. Williams, 89, of Rochester, died Monday, March 19, 2018 at Madonna Towers in Rochester.
Julie was born in Mahnomen, MN to Franz and Hedwig Becker. After completing a course in secretarial training at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis, she and several sisters moved to Seattle, Washington, where she met and married her husband, Robert B. Williams. In 1953, the couple moved to Rochester, where she enjoyed homemaking with her husband and children.
In 1970, she went to work as a teacher’s aide at Mayo High School; in 1975 she joined the MN State Employment office as an administrative assistant. In 1980, her husband was transferred to his company’s offices in the Twin Cities. She then went to work as an Administrative Secretary for the MN Dept. of Revenue in St. Paul. Upon her retirement in 1992, she and her husband returned to live in Rochester.
In past years, Julie served as president of Newcomers Club, was named charter president of La Sertoma Rochester, was active in Mrs. Jaycees, co-president of Soiree Dance Club, a member of the Auxiliary Legion, and held positions in local, state, and national levels of Forty & Eight Cabane. She was a life member of the Rochester Archery Club.
Her many interests included spending time with family and friends, traveling, bowhunting, camping, playing bridge, studying and using sign language, gardening, bird watching and enjoying her dogs. A woman of many talents, she was cherished by her family as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother for her loving, kind and generous personality.
Survivors include five daughters and one son, Marilyn (Kent) Rahn, Jeanne Byron, Donna (Rob) Chisholm, Bonny (Rick) Herman, Mary Diane Jacobs, and Robert (Kari) Williams. Also surviving are six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; and eight sisters; and her son-in-law, Michael Byron.
Funeral Mass for Julie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27th at Madonna Towers Main Chapel in Rochester with Father Joe Hennen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. There will be a luncheon at noon in the main dining room of Madonna Towers. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
The family sincerely appreciates and thanks Madonna Towers and Seasons Hospice for the care Julie received.
Memorials are preferred to Food for the Poor or the Salvation Army.

So sorry for your loss. As a child, I remember great times at your home.
To Aunt Julie's Family -- I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I had just received her beautiful farewell letter in the mail. Thinking about her, I was remembering our family trips from Dubuque to Mahnomen and back again, with our traditional stopovers in Rochester. We were welcomed so warmly, and always had an enjoyable time with all of you. Aunt Julie will be dearly missed. Love to all of you from her sister Helen's children and their spouses -- Ron and Karen, Don, Dave and Joy, Debra, Vickie and John, Jeff and Sarah.
So sorry to hear of Aunt Julie's passing - she was an amazing and wonderful lady!
