Judy A. Moreno

Judy Ann Moreno, 71, of Albert Lea, Minnesota, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on March 29, 2026. Born on April 4, 1955, Judy’s life was one marked by resilience, compassion, and an unshakeable love for others.

Judy lived in many places throughout her life—Albert Lea, MN; Omaha, NE; Salinas, CA; Des Plaines, IL; Houston, TX; Liberal, KS; Indianapolis, IN; and Sioux Falls, SD—touching lives wherever God placed her. She began her early career working for the Albert Lea Tribune, but her true calling emerged as she stepped into ministry. Judy served faithfully as a pastor and as a devoted member of The Salvation Army church in several communities. For many years, she led tambourine groups, worked with youth, and shepherded God’s people with a gentle yet steady spirit.

Those who knew Judy remember her as kind, loving, funny, stubborn in the very best way, and deeply nurturing. She loved making blankets, working with yarn, watching her grandkids grow, and—most famously—watching TV with her eyes closed. In recent years, she also found great joy in “spamming” her loved ones on Messenger, sending messages, emojis, and encouragement with enthusiasm.

Judy’s strength was quiet but extraordinary. As a child and teenager, she endured challenges that could have broken her spirit. But she survived—held together by God’s grace and her own determination. Many would never guess the battles she fought because her love, gullibility, and gentle heart were what shone brightest. Yet beneath that tenderness was the heart of a survivor. She carried her story with courage, and her life became a testimony of endurance, faith, and unconditional love.

Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albino Moreno, who surely welcomed her with open arms at the gates of heaven.

She is survived by her children: Cathy Sand (Mike), Judy E. Moreno, Albino “Cowboy” Moreno (Noemi), Javier Moreno, Candelaria Moreno, and Daniel Moreno (Sara). She was the cherished grandmother of Kourtney Ross, Alexis Calhoun, Madyson Ross, Saul Moreno, Leticia Moreno, Marin Moreno, Raul Gonzales, Alvaro Gonzales, Alicia Gonzales, Andres Gonzales, Emma Moreno, Elena Moreno, Nicolas Moreno, Isaiah Moreno, Malachi Moreno, Abigail Moreno, Raven Moreno, Maliyah Moreno, Aliana Moreno Simpson, Jailyn Simpson, Nathan Simpson, Jonah Simpson, Ezra Simpson, Zenaya Simpson, Khalani Thomas, Ja’kari Thomas, Maggie Moreno, Meleki Moreno, Marcos Moreno, Maela Moreno, Mililani Moreno, Natalie, Karlie, Brandy, Kenneth. Judy was also blessed with twenty great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

Though Judy has gone ahead of us, her legacy remains—woven into the blankets she crafted, the children she guided, the youth she mentored, and the generations who will continue to feel her love. Her life was a reflection of kindness, faithfulness, and quiet strength, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
