Joseph Inpanh Thammavongsa

Joseph Inpanh Thammavongsa 79, of Rochester, MN passed away from pancreatic cancer on Wednesday morning, December 4th, 2019 in the comfort of his own home.  He was surrounded by his family and loved ones. Joseph was born on July 5, 1940 in Vientane, Laos.

Joseph migrated his family to Rochester, MN in Sept 1979. He served many years in Laotian Armed Forces as First Lieutenant and briefly for United States Army in ‘68-‘69.  He received many accolades during his time in the Army. Joseph first and only job he has had since arriving in Rochester, MN was with Mayo Clinic as a custodian for 40 years until his retirement this pass November of 2019 due to his health. Joseph led an active life.  He loved entertaining and hanging out with his friends, and enjoys spending every time he gets with the grandkids, loves to go fishing during the (summer & winter), was a very handyman, repairing anything that’s broken and always finding projects to do around the house.  He was jack-of-all-trade.  A very smart man with a great sense of humor.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Rosa of 50 years; daughter Dora Thammavongsa and husband, Nick Chanthakhoun and their daughters Anna and Kayla; daughter Lynn and husband, Tor Forsgren and their sons Andrew, Ayden, Arik; sons Timothy and Ted Thammavongsa and Vunnida Neal (daughter-in-law) and their sons Tevin, Dylon and Ethan Thammavongsa.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Friday, December 13, 2019.  Followed by funeral services on Saturday December 14, 2019 from 12-4 pm.  BOTH visitation and funeral services will be at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th Street SE, Rochester, MN 55904
