José Rizal “Bobby” Malibago

Mr. Malibago of Rochester died Friday, February 9, 2018 at Saint Marys Hospital due to a stroke complicated by pneumonia.

Bobby was born on October 4 in Quezon City, Philippines. He received a degree in Political Science from the University of the East in Manila. He was a police officer in Makati, Philippines. In 1981, he emigrated to the United States and worked in Rochester at Anderson’s Formalwear, as a TSA officer at the Rochester International Airport, and as a security officer at the Mayo Clinic until his retirement in 2010. On June 17, 1983 he married Teresita Domingo in Rochester. His wife is a retired Registered Nurse from Mayo Clinic. She survives. Bobby was a member of Beta Sigma Fraternity during college, was a member of the Phil-Am Association in Rochester and loved traveling and target shooting. Bobby was a very loving husband and a devout Catholic.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother, and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, three sisters Esper Masangcay of Manila, Philippines,  Nelpha Malibago and Myriam Malibago both of Rochester, and Leo (Maribel) Malibago of Manila, Philippines, and numerous nieces and nephews in both the Philippines and Rochester.

The Funeral Mass for Bobby will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Peter Schuster officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, February 15, 2018 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, along with one hour prior to the Mass at church. The Rosary will be prayed starting at 6:00pm during the wake. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery of Rochester.

I WANT TO EXPRESS MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES WITH THE LOSS OF JOSE.  I FOUND IT OF GREAT PLEASURE GETTING TO KNOW DURING HIM DURING HIS TIME AT CHARTER HOUSE.  HE WAS AN EXTREMELY FORTUNATE MAN TO HAVE HAD SUCH A CARING GFAMILY BY HIS SIDE.  MY ONLY REGRET, IS NOT KNOWING HIM DURING HIS STRONGER DAYS, AS I CERTAIN WE COULD HAVE ENJOYED GREAT CONVERSATION.   JOHN

Our sincere condolence to Tessie and the Malibago family.  Bobby was a fine security officer and a good man.  We will miss him.
