John “Jack” Grimstad

John “Jack” Grimstad of Stewartville, MN died Friday May 4, 2018 from natural causes.

Jack was born March 2, 1934 to John & Hilda (Danielson) Grimstad.  Jack quit school in 10th grade and went into Road Construction which he worked 52 years until he retired from Road Constructors in 2002.

On July 25, 1954 he married the love of his life, LaVera Modine, at Tingvold Lutheran Church Underwood MN. They lived in various towns and states until they settled in Rochester, MN in 1958. Upon retirement they bought a winter home in Brownsville, Texas then in the summer they lived in their 5th wheel at Hidden Meadows Campground.   In 2012, they bought a condo in Stewartville, MN.

Jack and Vera had 2 children Kim Grimstad (Fiancé Steve Weidenbacher) and Scott (Lee Ann) Grimstad. 6 grandchildren; Shawn (friend Roxanne), Travis (Shannon) & Brandon (Nicole) Hanf, Nicole (Nick) Hagen, Garrett (Cydney) Grimstad, and Marissa Grimstad; 9 great grandchildren; Jordan, Hailey, Ryan, Jacob, Elsie, Noah, Lucas, Vincent, & Rayleona. He had a sister, Leona, of Fergus Falls, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was a loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, traveling, and more than anything spending valuable time with family.  He loved playing practical jokes, telling stories, entertaining & cooking.  He also enjoyed wood working, he was known for his beautiful 3D Crosses.

Visitation will be Tuesday May 8th from 5pm to 7pm at River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home.  Jack will be cremated. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 9th at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior to the Service at Macken Funeral Home.  A luncheon will be served following services.  A Celebration of life will be held following the luncheon at the Legion in Stewartville, MN for those who want to attend.  Burial will be at a later date at Tingvold Cemetery in Underwood, MN.

In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Ronald McDonald House.

We are so sorry for your loss. We know you had a great life together. It was very special to know you as a couple. We would have been there fore you but we were in Colorado visiting our youngest son Jeff and family. We will keep you in our prayers. Hope to see you when you feel you can.
