John F. Delaney

John F. Delaney (J.D.), of Rochester, died unexpectedly at his home Monday, September 28, 2015.

John was born July 25, 1944 to Walter and Evelyn (Miller) Delaney. He graduated from Lourdes High School in 1962. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1965 – 1967. John obtained his Business degree from Winona State College in 1971.

John worked as a Computer Programmer at Rochester Sand and Gravel and implemented their first computer system. He went on to work for the Rochester Postal Service for 25 years until his retirement. John was also part owner of Lefty’s Bar in Austin, MN for many years.

John had many interests which included a walking route of 12 miles per day (without missing a day) in SE Rochester for the past 12 years, playing on local softball leagues, trips to Las Vegas and the Superbowls, watching Nascar and all types of other sports. He also was an avid reader and enjoyed classic rock music. John will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include his mother, Evelyn Delaney; sister, Ginger Delaney Ingalls; nieces, Brenda Ingalls Hanson (Rod Hanson), Donna Ingalls Whiting and nephew Mike Ingalls. He is also survived by his great nieces, Aimalicia Whiting Staub (Chase), Shelby Ingalls, and great nephews Pat Hanson and Aaron Ingalls, all of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter, and his great nephew Matt Hanson.

The funeral service will be Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00am in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Nelson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 2, 2015 from 5:00pm-8:00pm in the River Park Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
