John Daniel Brandt

John D. Brandt – Rochester

John Brandt, 83, died Sunday, December 5, 2021, at his home.

John was born September 19, 1938, at St. Marys hospital in Rochester, MN, to Louie and Aletta Brandt. He lived on the Brandt family farm west of High Forest, MN until the age of 11 when the family moved to Rochester. He graduated from Rochester High School as a part of the Class of 1956. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961 and served until his discharge in 1965. In 1961 he married Karen Gauthier at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

John worked as an equipment operator for Doyle Conner Company in Rochester for 39 years. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 49, just having received his 55-year pin. John was very particular about his home and lawn, with everything perfectly neat as can be.

He is preceded in death by his wife Karen in 2011. Survived by two sons, Scott (Renee) and Jay (Becky); grandsons, Jorgen and Jake and a granddaughter Paige.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2021, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Adam Koglin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in East St. Olaf Cemetery in Rock Dell, MN.

Condolences

The family of John Daniel Brandt has received the following condolences.

Dear Scott & Renee,

we just heard today of your father’s death.  I always feel like it is NEVER easy to lose a loved one…even if you’re certain of their faith and that they’ll spend eternity in heaven with our Lord!

so, our hearts go out to you!  Your comfort (as you know!) will come from your ( our) Lord & Savior!
but, please know there are others ( like us…but, oh, so many other friends) who are aware of your sadness and we’ll be praying.

Love,

Julie & Sam

Deepest sympathies to my cousins and their families with this sudden loss of their father. So hard. We had many happy memories of times together. Thanksgiving most memorable for me. Your father was a good man. Enjoyed conversations and laughs. A glass or two of Mogan David now and again. Will miss seeing those new trucks with lucky 13 license plate. May you all share in fond happy memories as you mourn. And may God hold you close. Peace to you. Lisa and Tim Smith
