Joan M. Williams

Joan Mary Williams, 88, of Rochester, MN, died Friday, May 21, 2021 at Samaritan Bethany Home.

Joan was born May 29, 1932 in Oakridge, MN to John and Rose (Kronebusch) Guenther.  She graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School in Rollingstone, MN in 1950.  She was married and later divorced.  She worked at Mayo Clinic for over 30 years, retiring in 1994.

Joan led a quiet life.  Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life. She enjoyed doing circle word books, watching game shows, and MN teams play sports. She loved shopping on QVC, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, dolls, and many other collectibles.  She enjoyed buying little gadgets, hence, her children and grandchildren nicknamed her Grandma Gadget (GG for short).

Joan is survived by her two daughters, Julie (Marty) Christopherson, Brenda (Dan) Kroll and one son, Craig (Julie) Williams; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.  She is survived by one sister, Carol (Raymond) Mullen and one brother, David Guenther.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, three brothers, and three sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.  Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Memorials are preferred to Samaritan Bethany Home, Season’s Hospice, and Paws & Claws of Rochester, MN.
